Hare’s Night Song
By Sue Hardy-Dawson
from Where Zebras Go
TYPE
PoemSee her moonlight
bloom from thick forest
leaving the ground
plucking words from the stars
half heather mosses
deep purple wherries
strains of midnight shadow
rise from the earth
she reads diamond notes
on silver grasses
from black glassy brooks
damp reedy lairs
leaving her thin voice
where darkness passes
in the ghost of her
limpid, lamplight
stare
