CLPE wins Best Charity of the Year at the Southwark Business Excellence Awards!

We are delighted to announce that we have been named as the WINNER of the Best Charity or Social Enterprise at this year's Southwark Business Excellence Awards.

The 2020 winners were announced at a virtual ceremony on the 26th November to celebrate the achievements and resilience of the borough’s vibrant business community.

CLPE were chosen from over 100 local businesses who entered this year's awards and the judges were highly-impressed by the calibre of businesses who shared their stories of success and resilience when faced with the impact of COVID-19.

CLPE Chief Executive, Louise Johns-Shepherd said:
"We are delighted that our work has been recognised in this way. It has been an absolute privilege to support the vital work that schools and teachers are doing through this strange and difficult time but it has also been a very hard year to be a charity. To have this award means so much to us and to the future of our work supporting the literacy learning of so many children."

This announcement follows a busy year for CLPE. In February this year, CLPE won the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of our outstanding contribution to children's books and in October, were nominated for the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.
