The Lion and the Unicorn

Readers will gain insight into the life of an evacuee in World War II through this picture book about Lenny, a young Jewish boy sent to the countryside, where he learns that there are 'different kinds of courage' symbolised by the lion and the unicorn on the badge given to him for safekeeping by his soldier father. The expressive colour illustrations are flanked by columns of text and small delicate black and white illustrations which highlight moments from the story complementary to those in the main picture.
