Tony Mitton

Born in Tripoli, Libya and a self-proclaimed writer since the age of nine, Tony Mitton read English Literature at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, then trained as an English teacher and while working as a primary school and SEND teacher he wrote his first book Plum in 1998. He went on to have 14 more publications and won numerous awards for his work. 

His poem Wayland illustrated with woodcuts by John Lawrence, won CLiPPA, the CLPE Poetry Award in 2014. It was chosen by the judges for the mastery of the form, its epic nature and the beauty of it as a complete piece of art, poetry and legend.

He died on 22nd June 2022.
