The Day of Ahmed's Secret

Like many children the world over, Ahmed must work to help his family as well as go to school. He delivers butagaz in the city of Cairo and on this particular day he carries with him a secret which he will reveal to his family only when his day’s work is done. The illustrations provide a wonderful evocation of a part of the world rarely seen in children’s books and the central message is about the importance of literacy.
