William is a cat with an international reputation for solving mysteries. Disaster strikes when the famous painting, the Mona Cheesa, is stolen from a gallery in Paris just when it was due to be the centrepiece of an exhibition celebrating National Cheese Week. Cue for lots of cheesy jokes – ‘No Roquefort will be left unturned’ as William employs all his knowledge and skills to catch the culprit. He collects clues, links up with artist acquaintances and visits an ‘Homage to Fromage’ art gala in his quest to recover the painting.

This is Helen Hancocks’ second picture book and, if you look closely, you can spot the central character from her Penguin in Peril peeping out from a painting which references Rousseau. She has a striking two dimensional naïve style which is reminiscent of the work of Bruce Ingman.
