This inventive publisher has produced a distinctive set of picture books for young children making creative and often humorous use of acetate overlays. Earlier titles have featured concepts and the senses. In this book, on the left of each spread is a wide-eyed child, glancing sideways to a scene associated with what they aspire to be. Turn the acetate page and each child is transformed into that role. The shape of a ship becomes a pirate’s patch. A planet becomes an astronaut’s helmet. A seemingly simple idea which can encourage talk as well as inspire art activities.
