New and Collected Poems for Children

This volume gathers together all four of Carol Ann Duffy's collections of poems for children: Meeting Midnight, The Oldest Girl in the World, The Good Child's Guide to Rock 'n' Roll and The Hat, and adds some new ones, enabling young readers to experience the wide range of language, forms and subject matter upon which she draws. Perhaps The Hat, a delightful chronological journey in which the eponymous headgear lands in turn on the heads of famous poets, from Chaucer to Ted Hughes, weaving in quotations from their most famous poems along the way, anticipated her own appointment as Poet Laureate in 2009.
