This online learning session is recorded to support a teacher to access it on demand for 30 days from the release date. It provides rich opportunity for practical engagement and reflection which will support implementation in the classroom.

Explore the key experiences and teaching approaches that support writers in Year 3 and 4.

What you will learn:

  • the contexts which support children in Lower Key Stage 2 to be engaged and motivated to read for purpose and pleasure, across the curriculum;
  • how to choose and use quality texts to support the development of inferential skills, visual literacy and a wide range of cueing systems;
  • teaching approaches that support children in becoming increasingly fluent readers and provide experiences which develop language, enrich opportunities for reader response and deepen comprehension;
  • how to select texts to meet the needs, interests and literary preferences of children in Years 3 and 4, broadening their reading experiences.

All elements of the training are in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum.

This is the first of a series of four Teaching Reading online learning sessions. Teachers and leaders might attend one or all four to embed consistency of practice from Nursery to Year 6.

What you will receive:

  • 30 day access to a recording of the online session;
  • a handout of the presentation slides;
  • a free Power of Reading teaching sequence as well as a free 'Take 5' home learning resource, supporting immediate implementation at school.

Online learning session price is per person.

Participants receive a pre-registration email three days before the release date with details on how to access the online learning session. If you need support, please email [email protected].
