Planning Literacy Around a Text in Years 5 and 6
This webinar will investigate what a text based unit looks like in practice in a Year 5/6 classroom.
Our expert teaching team will discuss how such units can be used to increase children’s knowledge about reading and writing, including authorial intent, contextualised opportunities for developing children’s knowledge of language and grammar and how to write effectively for a range of purposes, audiences and forms, and thereby raising engagement and attainment in reading and writing.
We will also look at how units can work together to provide a rich and comprehensive curriculum that enables progress and attainment, building on learning from Years 3 and 4 to work towards greater depth at the end of Key Stage 2.

This webinar has been developed specifically for those who teach in Years 5 and 6. These webinars were originally created to support practising teachers in schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the great reviews from teachers and popularity of these webinars we have decided to make them a part of our Professional Development programme at CLPE. These webinars look at what effective English teaching looks like and how to build a comprehensive English Curriculum around quality texts.
This webinar is delivered via Zoom. Once a place has been secured, the participant will receive a pre-registration email three days before the training date with details on how to join the session.
