EVENT DETAILS

Join us online for a special Literary Library Presents event celebrating the launch of Jump Up! A Story of Carnival, written and illustrated by award-winning author Ken Wilson-Max and published by the George Padmore Institute. Sarah Garrod (GPI) will also participate.

Jump Up! is the second book in the GPI’s new series of black history picturebooks, Reaching New Generations, and tells the story of Cecille, a young black girl living in the Caribbean, and how her community develops their very own Carnival, based on their long-remembered African traditions. The story draws on the history of the festival and highlights one of the many contributions that Britain’s Caribbean population has made to our everyday cultural life.

The event will be led by CLPE’s Primary Advisory Teacher Darren Matthews

Exclusive book offer for all attendees! The George Padmore Institute are kindly offering all attendees on this event copies of both Jump Up! And Dream to Change the World for FREE!

Attendees will need to pay £3.50 P&P fee to receive this offer of two free books. Details of how to redeem this offer will be sent to all attendees of this event.

Find out more about both of Ken's books in this series published by The George Padmore Institute. Please note: click on shop and then scroll to the bottom of the page to find these books.

Registration will be via Zoom. Please follow the instructions in your confirmation email and ensure that you register well in advance of the start of the event.
