EVENT DETAILS

Join us online for a very special Literacy Library presents event with author illustrators, Chris Haughton and Petr Horáček

Anjali Patel, CLPE’s Lead Advisory Teacher will share the crucial practices that engage our early readers in the classroom and which have an evidenced outcome on children’s engagement and achievement in reading. These approaches enable all children to make progress, including those on free school meals and those previously seen as having lower levels of literacy.

Alex Lundie, headteacher of Arnhem Wharf Primary School, will share how using quality texts in the Early Years impacts on practice and children’s engagement and attainment in her own school, drawing on findings from the school’s involvement in CLPE’s research project Closing the Vocabulary Gap, in partnership with The Dollywood Foundation UK and funded by The Mercers Company Early Years Initiative.

Award winning author-illustrators Chris Haughton and Petr Horáček will be in conversation to talk about how and why they create their books for their young readers; what they know about how a well-crafted picture book and shared reading experience draws children’s attention to rich written language and illustration and encourages personal, social and emotional connections to be made.

We have partnered with Peters to offer an exclusive discount on Chris and Petr's books. Head to Peters to use this discount.

Registration will be via Zoom. Please follow the instructions in your confirmation email and ensure that you register well in advance of the start of the event.
