Our expert teaching team have developed a series of webinars to provide extra support for your literacy curriculum. These webinars are based on our face-to-face training, and give practising teachers a taster of our high-impact professional development. They give teachers the opportunity to prepare for the new school year, with a focus on developing effective English teaching and building a comprehensive English Curriculum around high quality texts.

Places are limited, and are prioritised for those working in a primary school setting. There is a maximum limit of two places per school for each webinar.

All of our webinars are delivered via Zoom. Once you have secured your place, you will receive a confirmation email detailing how to join the session.

Planning a Text Based Curriculum - a series of webinars covering the primary age range.

This webinar will investigate what a text based unit in the Early Years looks like in practice, using the high quality text, Errol's Garden by Gillian Hibbs (Child's Play). Our expert teaching team will discuss how these units can be used to support children’s knowledge and skills as early readers and writers including contextualised opportunities for phonics, language and grammar and how to provide invitations for young children to read and write.

This webinar will investigate what a text based unit in Years 1 and 2 looks like in practice, using the high quality text, Look Up! by Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola (Puffin). Our expert teaching team will discuss how these units can be used to support children as developing readers and writers including contextualised opportunities for phonics, language and grammar and increasing children’s knowledge of reading in different contexts and writing for different purposes.

This webinar will investigate what a text based unit in Years 3 and 4 looks like in practice, using the high quality text, The King Who Banned the Dark by Emily Haworth-Booth (Pavilion). Our expert teaching team will discuss how these units can be used to increase children’s knowledge about reading and writing, including contextualised opportunities for spelling and grammar, the use of language for effect on a reader and how to use language for different purposes and forms of writing.

This webinar will investigate what a text based unit in Years 5 and 6 looks like in practice, using the high quality text, The Dam by David Almond and Levi Pinfold (Walker). Our expert teaching team will discuss how these units can be used to increase children’s knowledge about reading and writing, including authorial intent, contextualised opportunities for developing children’s knowledge of language and grammar and how to write effectively for a range of purposes, audiences and forms.
