Developing Historical Enquiry through Quality Fiction - World War II
Taught in collaboration with established children’s author, Tony Bradman, this half-day course explores how to use historical fiction to develop a cross-curricular unit of work. Inspired by Bali Rai’s, Now or Never: A Dunkirk Story and the associated historical era, this course will offer creative teaching approaches to support improved attainment in literacy and to teach history and other subject areas, effectively.

Effective Spelling in a Rich Reading Curriculum
This course will explore a range of strategies and resources to enhance spelling attainment of all children based on the research from the CLPE publication Understanding Spelling. It will make teachers think about their current spelling approach looking at strategies and approaches to improve and enhance this teaching to ensure children become confident, effective spellers, in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum.

This specialist one day course is the second session of our four day course Excellence in Literacy for NQTs, and has a focus on phonics and spelling. The course is highly practical and investigates ways to use a text-based approach to plan well-chosen activities that support children’s progress in these areas through the use of high-quality children’s literature.

The course is highly practical and investigates ways to plan well-chosen activities to support children’s progress in all aspects of reading, using high-quality children’s literature.

Developing Language Learning in the Primary Years with Queen Mary University of London
This, specially developed training, in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London, gives participants a deeper understanding of the underlying principles of how language works, in specific relation to the English language system. The course will be taught by two linguistics specialists from Queen Mary University of London, alongside two of our own expert teaching team.
