Understanding reading progress (Deepening Subject Knowledge in Reading)
In today’s classrooms we may be supporting readers at very different stages to make progress towards and beyond age-related expectations. This half day will deepen participants’ knowledge of the complete scale of development in reading and will guide them in choosing texts, exploring reading environments, planning key experiences and using effective pedagogies to meet the needs of all learners, developing fluency, deep comprehension and closing the attainment gap.
This event is part of a series of half day training events designed to provide subject knowledge in the key aspects of the effective teaching of reading. They are ideal as subject knowledge refreshers for subject leaders or experienced classroom teachers and will also provide key knowledge and understanding for less experienced teachers. Each training event stands alone but together they provide a comprehensive understanding of the entire reading process.
