Inspiring Writing KS2
This training day offers guidance on how to develop inclusive literacy provision and key routines for writing in order to support children as developing writers in Key Stage 2. It will strengthen practitioner knowledge of progression in writing and how to plan for an authentic writing process. It will demonstrate how a high quality text can inspire a wide range of writing opportunities and develop children’s knowledge, skills and stamina as writers, as well as opportunities to explore spelling and grammar in context.
All teachers will receive a high quality children's text and associated teaching sequence of detailed planning ideas to support the immediate implementation of the ideas from the day, inspiring a range of writing outcomes in their own classrooms.
The course will focus on the following key areas:
- What is writing? Why do we write?
- The reader in the writer– learning from the research
- An environment that supports and inspires a wide range of writing
- An authentic writing process, exemplified through a teaching sequence
