Develop a thorough understanding of the reading process throughout the primary years and beyond with this in-depth six day course. Teachers will explore how to create a purposeful vision for reading across a school, which meets the needs of all learners. They will consider how this vision informs and shapes a balanced, comprehensive and impactful reading programme.

Use the CLPE Reading Scale to deepen understanding of all aspects of the reading process to be able to support all children to grow and progress on their reading journey. Unpick the cognitive and social complexities of reading, gaining key insights into what constitutes deep reading. Investigate ways to create an authentic community of readers, including a focus on reading for pleasure, reader response, reading groups and wider community engagement. Explore practical strategies for using literature, talk and drama to engage children in response to reading to deepen understanding of what has been read. Engage in school-based gap tasks and reflections, culminating in a case study evidencing impact.
