Chartered College Teacher Twilight – Reflecting Realities: Research into practice
Please note that this event is now past. Our next event is The Power of Poetry: Engaging and developing children as writers on 20 March. Details of upcoming Chartered College Teacher Twilight Events.
Join us at CLPE for a special Chartered College Network event in which we will discuss the overwhelming response to our Reflecting Realities Survey published earlier this year and consider how this ground breaking project has contributed towards refining the public discourse regarding representation in UK children’s publishing.
This event will be a chance to explore the underpinning rationale for our Reflecting Realities work and expand upon the headline findings, to determine the current state of our book shelves and the implications on children as readers, as well as, our responsibilities as gatekeepers. Award winning author Catherine Johnson will offer special insights, drawing on her 25 year career and advocacy in this area. Netley Primary English Leader, Rosie Chapleo will share reflections on the impact of under-representation in this area and the effect it can have on pupils and school communities.
Tickets for this special event are only £5 including a glass of wine or soft drink.
At the end of the session, attendees will be able to purchase books from Letterbox Library, who will be exclusively debuting a new Reflecting Realities collection in honour of this event and this work and Catherine Johnson will be available for signing.
