Building a reading programme to meet the needs of all learners (Deepening Subject Knowledge in Reading)
There are many different aspects to a comprehensive reading programme; whole class teaching of reading to develop comprehension and inspire writing, group reading to target specific reading skills and strategies, the teaching of phonics, individual reading to build confidence and independent reading where children can use and apply skills and strategies and make purposeful reading choices. With a new Ofsted focus on depth of learning and curriculum design, this half day explores all aspects of reading instruction and looks at how to select experiences that meet the needs of all learners, planning a reading curriculum that enables all children to make progress.
This event is part of a series of half day training events designed to provide subject knowledge in the key aspects of the effective teaching of reading. They are ideal as subject knowledge refreshers for subject leaders or experienced classroom teachers and will also provide key knowledge and understanding for less experienced teachers. Each training event stands alone but together they provide a comprehensive understanding of the entire reading process.
Please note that you can book any of the 3 other training events through the individual course pages on the left hand menu .
