We're floating into the blue,
Me and my blue balloon.
Over the rooftops of the town,
The brown fields and the trees
And the Downs – we're floating,

at the back of the houses

when mum is driving

and everyone is quiet,

heads toppling with sleep,

and the motorway is a dizzy black

So Jonjo took me for a walk and showed his world to me.

The night was as dark as an ink well,
For the moon had gone visiting elsewhere,
But by the scuffling sounds around me,
I knew there was someone there.

Sirens! The cry went round the ship
as swift as if they'd sighted home
and every sailor felt the grip

In the line you hear a chatter.
Up and down a clatter, clatter.
Noisy schoolgirls scream and shout,
pushing in and pushing out.
