Poetic Devices:

Don't Move the Goalposts

Poem from My Life as a Goldfish and other poems by Rachel Rooney

Don't move the goalposts.
Leave them as they are.

Well, maybe this much wider.
Now you've gone too far.

In a bit more. Stop.
OK, that'll do.

No! You can't wear your jumper
unless you swap it for a shoe.

What d'you mean you're cold now?
You always have to moan.

Don't go. I didn't mean it.
I can't play on my own.
