Marshmallows

A marshmallow feels soft

and lightly powdered

like a grandmother’s cheek.

A full bag is like a pillow

filled with little pillows.

Once I put a few white marshmallows

On a big blue plate and thought,

They’re partly cloudy!

Most find marshmallows too

sweet, too sticky inside,

like the edge of a Post-it note

where someone wrote,

Don’t bother!
