Making Friends,
A new boy joined our class today.
His eyes are red, his skin is grey.
He will not come outside to play.
I think he needs a friend.
We set the goalposts on the grass.
We pick our teams, we strike, we pass.
He's watching from behind the glass.
I'm sure he wants a friend.
A tackle causes injury,
some blood is trickling from my knee.
I limped to class and there I see
the boy who has no friend.
He greets me with a sharp-toothed grin.
He licks his lips and helps me in.
Did I just hear him whispering?
Now you shall be my friend.
