Michaela Morgan

Michaela Morgan was born in Manchester and worked in various prisons as Writer in Residence. At the same time she took to writing children’s books and is probably one of the few authors to have visited infant schools and Rampton high security hospital in the same week. She has had over 140 titles published including poetry, picture books, fiction and non-fiction. Her book Walter Tull's Scrapbook was shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Award. 

Michaela has taken more and more to poetry and often visits schools to perform and to run writing workshops. She is included in many anthologies in UK and internationally. In 2016 she won the Quick Reads Award for Respect!  published by Barrington Stoke. She has won a UKRA (now UKLA) award and has also been an International Reading Association Choice and a World Book Day Recommended Read and is a National Poetry Day Ambassador.

Michaela, (along with Jan Dean and Liz Brownlee), has produced Reaching the Stars. Poems about Extraordinary Women and Girls (2017 Macmillan) and she also edited and contributed to Wonderland: Alice in Poetry (Macmillan) which was shortlisted for the CLiPPA 2017.
