Nicky Parker - Chair of Trustees
Nicky Parker directs the publishing programme at Amnesty International UK. She has particular interest in the long-term power of children’s fiction and picture books to broaden horizons, develop empathy and inspire young people to stand up and make a difference.
In 2015 she initiated the Amnesty CILIP Honour, awarded to Kate Greenaway and Carnegie Medal shortlisted books that best celebrate human rights. A long-standing judge of Amnesty’s Youth Awards and leader of its poetry strand, she was chair of governors at Widford village primary school for five years and currently volunteers with NYAS as an independent visitor to a child in care.
