Upcoming events for Literacy Library Presents with Konnie Huq, Tom McLauglin and Kwame Alexander

We are delighted to continue our series of evening events taking place in our renowned hall and purpose-built library.  It is a great opportunity for teachers and other working in primary literacy to meet and gain inspiration from leading children's authors and illustrators for their own classrooms or libraries.

After some amazing sessions in 2019 with amongst others Lauren Child, Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre 2020 promises just as great a line-up for the Literacy Library Presents series with  :

 -  An Evening with Konnie Huq and Tom McLaughlin on 6 February when they will discuss the importance and power of humour in children's literature .  A former Blue Peter presenter, Konnie has received praise for the first book in her Kookie character series which she also illustrated. Tom is an author and illustrator whose book The Story Machine (2015) which was longlisted for the Greenway Medal 

An Evening with Kwame Alexander on 2 March where his subject will be -  Finding your story: the importance of choice, voice and personal narrative. Kwame is an award-winning poet, children's book author, whose novel-in-verse Booked was highly commended by the CLiPPA  judges in 2017 and his follow-up Rebound was shortlisted for the CLiPPA 2019

ALSO for aspiring children's writers, Kwame Alexander is running an exclusive workshop Writing for the children's book market which is running 1.30-4.30 on 2 March

Come and join us for with a chance for attendees to join in the discussions and also browse CLPE's library to over 23,000 carefully selected children's books and books on primary pedagogy. There is also an opportunity to get books signed at the end of the event.
