Join the CLPE-Cheltenham Festivals' Reading Teachers=Reading Pupils book group

CLPE is delighted to announce we will once again be partnering with Cheltenham Festivals, and our involvement in delivering the Festivals’ network of teacher book groups, Reading Teachers=Reading Pupils.

Reading Teachers = Reading Pupils is a Cheltenham Festivals programme delivered in partnership with like-minded organisations across the UK including Books Council of Wales, Bradford Literature Festival, Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE), English and Media Centre, National Centre for Writing, National Literacy Trust, KEAP (The Writers’ Block), Peters, Seven Stories the National Centre for Children's Books, The Reader, The Story Museum and Wigtown Festival Company.

Set up in 2016, the national network of teachers groups aims to inspire reading for pleasure because research shows that children who read for pleasure experience high levels of well-being, engage in learning and are successful in life. The programme aims to give teachers the time, space and inspiration to (re-)engage with children’s books and the stimulus to foster reading for pleasure within their classrooms.

Commencing in Autumn 2021, we will be hosting a series of seven sessions for primary teachers at our Centre in Central London. Dates are to be confirmed.

All sessions will be led by members of our expert teaching team at the CLPE, and will run from 4.30-6.00pm apart from Sharing Day which will start at 1:00pm and finish at 6:00pm.
