Apply for a FREE place on Teaching Poetry with Kate Wakeling in association with Macmillan Children's Books
CLPE are delighted to announce an extension to their poetry partnership with Macmillan Children’s Books, following the success of The Big Amazing Poetry Project, to continue to highlight the importance of poetry in children's developing literacy.
This year's Teaching Poetry course with award-winning children's poet Kate Wakeling, will be run in association with Macmillan Children’s Books. The course aims to empower teachers with a broad knowledge of poets and poetry whose work and be drawn upon to support children of all ages in the primary phase and creative teaching approaches to engage children in listening to, performing, reading, responding to and writing poetry, building on the learning from The Big Amazing Poetry Project.
Macmillan Children’s Books' partnership will enable ten primary schools to benefit from a free place on the course. They will also provide a goody bag, including a free poetry text, for every school taking part in the course to support them in developing their poetry book stock. CLPE will also provide schools with copies of two of Kate's poetry collections.
Schools wishing to apply for one of the free places should register their interest here before 5pm on Monday 22nd April. Priority for places will be given to schools with above average percentages of children eligible for Free School Meals and/or with English as an Additional Language.
