A bear lives in a cave by the sea cheerfully singing to himself. Then he hears a noise from the city far away and travels to investigate. Bewildered and lost by all the people and their reactions to him, he is found by some friendly children who know they need to help him get back to his home in the cave by the sea.
The text follows the same pattern as the author’s We’re Going on a Bear Hunt of a journey and it’s speeded up return on rewind but here the children are certainly not scared of the bear! There’s also strong patterned use of onomatopoeic sounds set to a different beat and rhythm from the earlier much loved book.
