CLPE - chair of trustees - Nicky Parker
Nicky Parker directs the publishing programme at Amnesty International UK. She has particular interest in the long-term power of children’s fiction and picture books to broaden horizons, develop empathy and inspire young people to stand up and make a difference.
CLPE -Vice Chair of trustees - Elaine McQuade
Elaine has had a long career in children’s publishing including working as Head of Children’s Marketing and PR at Oxford University Press (OUP). She has worked with authors and illustrators including Roald Dahl, Raymond Briggs, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and is also a Trustee of The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.
CLPE - Chair of the Finance Committee
Jackie is a banker with over 30 years of experience dealing with large corporates. Her employer encouraged her to take her skills out of the workplace to assist the charities sector and in exchange learn some new skills for herself. She is also a Trustee of The Book Bus, Slough Community Leisure and Absolutely Leisure.
CLPE Trustee - Antonia Byatt
Antonia Byatt is an Arts Consultant specialising in Literature projects and organisations whose current clients include English PEN and British Council. Previously she was Director of Cheltenham Literature Festival 2016 and Director of Literature and South East for Arts Council England between 2007 and 2015.
CLPE Trustee - Beverley Greathead
Beverley has recently retired as a headteacher in Wirral after 37 years in education. She began working initially in London later moving to Wirral where she worked in an advisory role for English and Literacy supporting teachers and headteachers.
CLPE Trustee - Ali Mawle
Ali is Director of Education for Cheltenham Festivals. Previously she worked as a primary teacher, literacy advisor, Deputy Head Teacher and ITE tutor before moving to the National Gallery as Head of Schools. She is a Leading Thinker for the National Education Trust, and Trustee of Farms for City Children.
CLPE Trustee - Caroline Pidgeon
Caroline is currently an elected Member of the London Assembly focusing on transport, police and education issues. Previously she spent 12 years as a Southwark Councillor including time as Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Children’s Services and Education.
Catherine was elected as a Southwark Borough councillor for College Ward in May 2016. She is a member of Southwark’s Education and Children’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Sub-Committee. As well as 15 years experience working in the public sector, she has been actively engaged in community work, specifically education-focused.
CLPE Trustee - Justin Shinebourne
Justin is a Partner at Finsbury, a global advisory firm, where he leads the Equity Advisory practice out of London. His relationship with CLPE began as part of a project team at Pilotlight, developing CLPE's long term strategic plan and was delighted to evolve it into a Trustee role. He is advisor to a number of charities and a member of the Board of Trustees at Battersea Arts Centre.
CLPE Trustee - Cecilia Weiler
A corporate lawyer for over 20 years, Cecilia has lived and worked in Sweden and the UK and speaks several languages. She has lots of experience in supporting children in literacy, giving regular talks and story-telling sessions and she has run a local dyslexia support group for parents.
CLPE Trustee - Ronnie Woods

A Headteacher for 10 years, Ronnie is a Researcher/Writer at the National College for School Leadership and a consultant working with schools, local and national organisations across the UK.

Rukhsana Yasmin has worked in publishing and literature for over ten years. She entered the industry through an Arts Council England (ACE) diversity in publishing scheme and went on to work at award-winning publishers, Saqi Books, Profile Books and Jacaranda.
