The Power of Reading Training and Membership

The Power of Reading supports schools to build a curriculum based on high-quality children's books and provides all teachers with text recommendations and detailed planning to support the teaching of reading and writing. It fosters reading and writing for pleasure and raises achievement in literacy.

Each year, the programme is evaluated and developed to include the latest research and new texts and approaches. This year-round training course, for leaders and class teachers will:

• Support you in developing an inclusive and progressive curriculum for English across your school;
• Enhance your subject knowledge of how reading and writing develop across the primary years;
• Show how quality texts can be used to plan comprehensive and engaging English lessons, with context-embedded opportunities to use and apply phonics, spelling and grammar;
• Provide strategies and approaches to increase children's engagement and attainment in reading and writing;
• Provide you with a CLPE school membership with access to our online learning programme, text recommendations, teaching plans and curriculum maps for your whole school to access and use, plus book discounts and additional free training opportunities;
• Share ideas and strategies to support you in developing a culture of reading and writing for pleasure.
