Me and You

Author: Anthony Browne
Illustrator: Anthony Browne

The parallel stories of Goldilocks and of the Three Bears are told partly through words but mostly through pictures. The forest they inhabit is more of an urban jungle, especially for Goldilocks whose environment and journey are portrayed in sepia tones. Her loneliness as a small child in a big world is expressed without words. The bears’ story is told from the viewpoint of baby bear in pictures of pastel shades with a simple and effective repetitive text. When both parties meet there is a merging of illustrative styles as well as viewpoints.
