Duck, Death and the Tulip

In this stark and macabre picture book, Duck is visited by Death, in the shape of a skeleton, although only his skull can be seen, his body shrouded in a checked shift. Their intimacy increases as summer turns to winter and eventually the inevitable occurs. The spare illustrations often just consist of the two protagonists and other elements are introduced only minimally. A philosophical book which needs to be shared and discussed with children rather than internalised on an individual basis.
