A rhyming text with the repetition of the phrase ‘dare to’ on each page encourages children to expand their outlook about what is possible for them to do in their own lives and how they could contribute to the wider world around them. The pictures complement the words by suggesting broadly ways they could be interpreted. For example, ‘Dare to see when others don’t’ is accompanied by a child admiring flowers growing in an unexpected place while adults tower above and another child sleeps in a pushchair. And on the next spread a child designs what looks like a recycling or anti-plastics poster below the words ‘Dare to speak when others won’t’.
