Bloom

Author: Anne Booth
Illustrator: Robyn Wilson-Owen
Publisher: Tiny Owl

A girl stops every day to admire and talk to a flower growing beside a big colourful house close to a grey block of flats. The man in the house shouts at her and so she doesn’t stop by any more. He can’t understand why the flower no longer blooms even though he waters it, makes sure it has enough shade and talks to it. But maybe it’s what he says and how he says it that is the problem...

A story with some repeated refrains which is reminiscent in some respects of Oscar Wilde’s The Selfish Giant.
