On Thursday 29 September, we invited Children's Laureate, illustrator Chris Riddell to christen the walls in our café. Unable to resist the lure of a freshly painted, white, huge, blank canvas Chris spent the day doodling on the walls.
The Power of Pictures is a major new literacy project from CLPE and children’s authors/illustrators. Project findings show drawing is linked to success in children’s writing and reading pictures significantly impacts on comprehension. The project website is free to use.
For the first time two poets have been crowned winners of the CLiPPA 2016 (CLPE Children's Poetry Award). The announcement took place at a Poetry Show at the National Theatre with performances from the shortlisted poets and Shadowing School winners.
We worked closely with teachers and in partnership with UKLA, NATE, NAAE and the EMC to develop the original Reading and Writing Scales into a tool that can be used by teachers to inform classroom practice in the 21st Century. They are now available as a free download and an App.
