Nine brand new Power of Reading teaching sequences for 2018/19

PoR 200 teaching sequences

The Power of Reading helps schools to build a literacy curriculum that encourages engagement and raises attainment in reading and writing through whole class English teaching.  There are more than 200 sequences of work on the site each showing you how to plan to use quality children’s books to ensure progress in reading and the development of language and writing for a range of purposes in a variety of forms.

Our sequences are written by experienced primary practitioners with relevant and recent classroom experience and are tried and tested in real classrooms across the country.

All our Power of Reading sequences cover the National Curriculum expectations for reading and writing including composition, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, spelling, phonics and reading comprehension.  The texts are carefully chosen by our expert team of primary teachers and qualified librarian to ensure children experience a range and breadth of quality literature.

We have added brand new Power of Reading teaching sequences for 9 wonderful books bringing our total number of books on the site to 207 by more than 180 authors.

“The Power of Reading teaching sequences offered the most exciting opportunities for writing. The children were very engaged during these literacy lessons and some of their best writing came from it.” Power of Reading teacher 2017

“We had the highest percentage of children reaching expected standard in writing this year - this is a direct result of their enjoyment of the Power of Reading texts and teaching sequences.” Power of Reading teacher 2017
