A message from CLPE's Chief Executive...

When we closed our Centre in London in March and said a sad goodbye to our beautiful Literacy Library we were, like everybody, not sure what the next chapter would hold.  We’re in awe of all of you working in schools and how you have dealt with the difficulties the pandemic brings and how you’ve done that by making your children feel safe and secure, whether they are still learning at school or at home.

We hope that our resources to support literacy learning have been useful.  We’ve collected them all here under Free Resources so that you can find them easily and we’ve also created some playlists on our YouTube channel where you can draw alongside or listen to a story from some of our brilliant authors, illustrators and poets. To help our Power of Reading members to keep children reading for pleasure and writing creatively, we have written home learning notes for many of the Power of Reading books – these are available now.

I want to reassure you that the CLPE team are continuing to work hard to provide support for literacy teaching.  We will be adding to our free resources which will help you to plan home learning and provide support for teachers and parents.  We are also working on developing additional resources for our Power of Reading members which will support your literacy planning. We'll be sending out regular emails about all our free resources in order that you can find them easily. If you are signed up to our newsletter you will get these automatically.

Thank you for supporting our charity’s work and for supporting children to keep reading, because as we know, reading for pleasure means achievement for life.

In tricky times a story, poem or picture book can be a comfort, a distraction, a salve or an inspiration – all of us at CLPE hope you are finding the right book for you right now.
