Literacy Beyond Levels Conference 8 February 2016

This conference introduced the new CLPE Reading and Writing Scales as a tool to support that can be used by teachers to inform classroom practice in the current educational landscape.


Inspiring keynotes speeches came from:

Professor Teresa Cremin ,Professor of Education (Literacy) at The Open University -  What counts as reading: measuring the pleasure ;

Tanya Landman , the Carnegie Medal-winning author of Buffalo Soldier, - Writing for a purpose

Delegates took part in practical workshops to reflect on the practice and pedagogy that supports children in their reading and writing journey and a dynamic panel discussion with CLPE, UKLA, NATE, NAAE and EMC about using the scales in the school environment. 
A full copy of the scales document which includes comprehensive next steps for teachers and currently relevant research to support subject knowledge was available to take away.
