Announcing the winner of CLiPPA 2015 - Joseph Coelho!

The Poetry Show at the National Theatre, 16 July 2015

Joseph was announced winner at The Poetry Show at the National Theatre in front of hundreds of children from shadowing schools, poets, parents and teachers.

The announcement was the finale of a lively show which featured performances from talented young poets from winning shadowing schools and performances from the other shortlisted poets including Rachel Rooney (Winner 2012), Hilda Offen, Valerie Bloom and Louise Greig.

Chair of judges, Roger McGough opened the show with a beautiful reading of The Colour Collector and Joseph Coelho ended the show with a moving performance of If all the world were paper.

For the very first time this year we ran a Shadowing Scheme for schools alongside the Children’s Poetry Award, also known as CLiPPA. We are thrilled that it was such a phenomenal success with nearly 2000 children all over the UK taking part – shadowing the poets, using the teaching sequences and entering the competition with performance films of their own. Congratulations to the talented young poets and their wonderful teachers!

Thanks to all the schools, teachers, children, poets and CLPE staff who made The CLiPPA 2015 Poetry Show such a success.

A huge thanks to the National Theatre team, the judges and to our friends and sponsors – Peters Books, Mark Cockram, Strudel Design, The Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society, Siobhan Dowd Trust – for their time, generosity and support.
