Lizzie Catford

Lizzie is an experienced publisher, having worked in the education and children’s publishing sector for over 18 years. She has led product developments at some of the UK’s most influential curriculum and children’s book publishers. This has required an excellent knowledge of children’s reading habits, the educational landscape, as well as keeping abreast of the latest policies for schools. She is currently Primary Publisher for Collins (HarperCollins UK).

Lizzie is a committed supporter of CLPE’s core mission of raising literacy achievement through empowering all children to become confident, successful readers and writers. She believes emphatically that books have the power to change lives and is delighted to be working with CLPE to promote access to and enjoyment of literature for all children.

"I enjoy lots of different kinds of books, especially children’s books.  I always enjoy revisiting favourites from childhood, such as Wind in the Willows and The Hobbit. They fuelled my imagination, inspired my games and I forever fell in love with reading and the way it transports you to another world. Today I love exploring the huge range and rich diversity of children’s books with my own boys and seeing the world fresh through their eyes."
